1. Clean:
Use a leather cleaner to wipe your boots after every use. Dust and dirt particles are detrimental to leather and can work their way into the folds of boots, eventually causing abrasion and cracking.
2. Dry:
Let boots air dry before moving to the next step.
3. Polish:
Use a dependable polish that is made specifically for the leather you are wearing.
4. Condition:
Conditioning leather lubricates the fibers adding life and shine to your boots. It is important to remember that some exotic leathers like python, alligator, or lizard, tend to dry out more easily and are subject to cracking without frequent conditioning.
5. Protect:
Store your boots in a boot sock or boot storage box and use boot trees to help maintain their shape when not wearing. Also, use suede and leather protectant spray to preserve all leather. Protect your boots with water and stain protector, use a bootjack to remove your boots, and don’t drag your feet when you walk.
