Tony Lama and TX Whiskey

Since our founding in 1911, we have strived to continually handcraft premium western cowboy boots using only the finest leathers and materials available. Our friends at Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. uphold these same standards across their premium American whiskey range that includes award winning TX Blended Whiskey and TX Straight Bourbon. Our companies are connected through our Texas upbringing and strong commitment to quality and craftsmanship. This partnership highlights the values we each hold for our product and consumers.

The Leather & the Bottle

Every bottle of TX Whiskey features details that represent western culture. One of the most well-loved details of the bottle is the signature leather cap. 15,000 square feet of our premium excess boot leather is directly transported from our El Paso, TX factory to Whiskey Ranch in Fort Worth, TX. This leather is then masterfully crafted into a unique cap for the tops of each bottle.

There are significant details on each bottle that pay homage to the culture and character of the American West. The woven canvas neckwrap is a tribute to the canvas chuckwagons, the silver band represents spurs and belts, and the boot stitching and notable piece of leather honors the cowboys and cowgirls who paved the way.

Every year, we supply Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co.’s with close to 15,000 square feet in premium scrap leather. They use this leather to create their trademark leather caps on every bottle of TX Whiskey. Whether it is one of our finest pieces of exotic leather or a piece of traditional cowhide leather, Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. masterfully crafts our leather into authentic caps for the tops of their whiskey bottles. This same leather is used to handcraft our very own premium Tony Lama boots.

Not only does this piece of leather add aesthetic value to the bottle, it pays tribute to an instrumental staple that has defined the western character and culture. Whether it be the cloth on the neck of the TX Whiskey bottle representing the chuck wagon, or the silver band on the bottle bottom signifying spurs, Firestone & Robertson packaging and bottle presentation is a great example of a brand paying homage to the great western.

The Whiskey

Owners Leonard Firestone and Troy Robertson dedicated over two years sampling various whiskeys in an attempt to capture different characteristics and flavor profiles of their favorites. Along with the help of head distiller, Rob Arnold, they began experimenting with different ingredients in an attempt to make the perfect whiskey. This process of tasting and experimenting came to fruition when TX Whiskey came to market. Their hard work paid off when they won “Best American Craft Whiskey” at the Annual World Spirits Competition in 2013.

A Self-Made Brand

Leonard Firestone and Troy Robertson both left their corporate jobs to pursue their true passion - whiskey. Their vision, Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co., became a reality in 2010 after dedicating over two years sampling various whiskeys to capture favorite characteristics and different flavor profiles.

With the help of their Head Distiller, Rob Arnold, they fine-tuned their blend to make the perfect Texas whiskey. Their hard work paid off when they debuted their first product, TX Blended Whiskey, in the spring of 2012 and won “Best American Craft Whiskey” at the Annual World Spirits Competition in 2013. In 2016 TX introduced their TX Straight Bourbon that is made exclusively out of Texan ingredients. Recently, TX Straight Bourbon won several prestigious awards: Gold at the 2020 International Spirits Challenge, Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and 94 Points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.

The Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co. facilities and portfolio have continued to grow since their founding. In 2017, Whiskey Ranch became the home of TX Whiskey, which is currently the largest whiskey distillery west of the Mississippi. This state-of-the-art distillery sits on the former Glen Gardens golf course with downtown Fort Worth views as a backdrop. Despite their rapid success, they have managed to stay true to their Texas roots.

A Proud Partnership

We are proud of our partnership with TX Whiskey because they bring the same level of craftsmanship to every bottle of whiskey made as we do to each pair of boots. We share a passion for fine western artistry, quality, and attention to detail to ensure that each of our products is a true work-of-art.
